Hand Knits

I finally got some pictures of R in his new vest. This is a great easy knit. I looked at a pattern but just went without following one. All done on long circulars using a bit of the magic loop. I knit it in the round then split the front and back then split again to do the arm/neck, breaking yarn at the top of each arm/neck piece, picking up the other arm/neck and again for the back. The original inspiration, called for knitting flat and putting in buttons. I love the idea of knitting it without much need for sewing at the end, but figured the buttons really made it nice to not have to go over the head of a newborn and as R wasn't going to be wearing it as a newborn we were okay without buttons. Plus buttons themselves are more sewing and finishing, the culprits that keep my knitting too often laying in the basket of uncompletion.2 skeins of knit picks wool of the andes. Seriously so easy.
River double upped on the hand knits today and got to wear sarah's sweater that she knit as well. He really is at the height of fashion.

I LOVE the knits. I am ashamed to admit it but I've only tackled socks, felted clogs, hats and scarves. I NEED to knit a sweater but am a little fearful. Your pictures are an inspiration. I will have to put aside my fear...and dive in. Plus, your two little ones are so adorable in their sweaters.

I also enjoyed your stenciling post. I may have to try my hand at that.

Thanks for being so inspiring...my fingers are itchy to start something.
