What Have you Been Doing?

We have been cooking a lot around here...

Grilled and marinated corn on the cob bites.600 dolmas, wrapped by me, well Ben stepped in during hour number 3 to help me with a little assembly line. I was quite happy when I realized that yes I can wrap 100 dolmas in 25 minutes, but that meant it would still take 3 hours to wrap 600. I do love some good old repetetive tasks, but I think I only like doing it 300 times, after that it really is just labor. This task seemed to be never ending with to many interuptions, nursing, changing diapers, making lunch, reading books. Thankfully there was an end. This week we made truly a shitload of hummous, not may people can really quantify what a "shitload" is perhaps, but we have finally figured it out. This is 5.5 gallons of hummous- more than needed, but we are okay with a little left over for us and friends (let me know if you need some hummous). We are very lucky to have that happy baby as well.400 tomato skewers later....thankfully more than the normal trend this summer. 300 people this past friday and 40 on Saturday. It was quite a boost in business world. The summer was rocky to put it nicely, we were breaking from the pressure of it, and have hopefully rounded the corner. It is nice to actually make more money than it costs you to live!!
And most of the mess is cleaned up before the other cooking resumes tonight.
